Filipino Workers Needed to Romania and Norway
The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) informed that two European countries, Russia and Norway are set to hire an estimate of 180,000 foreign workers to fill job vacancies for their construction and healthcare industry.
According to a report submitted by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to Labor Secretary Arturo Brion, Romania needs 150,000 construction workers while 3,000 healthcare workers are wanted in Norway.
Rosalinda Baldoz, POEA chief said, “Romania which experiences labor shortages needs roughly 150,000 construction workers at present.”
Being one of the newest members of European Union (EU), an 8% yearly growth rate, and with a population 22 million are just some of the reasons why Romania needs to import overseas workers. The said country has various infrastructure projects for their manufacturing and industrial businesses.
On the other hand, Norway intends to hire 3,000 Filipino healthcare personnel particularly nurses and caregivers in the next three years.
Baldoz also informed that POEA is currently negotiating with the two countries regarding the future deployment of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Aside from Romania and Norway, OFWs are also in-demand in other European countries. Italy recently increased their quota for Filipino workers to 5,000 from the previous 3,000 limit for regular workers.
There are also job opportunities for professionals and skilled workers in United Kingdom (UK), Ireland, Spain, France, Ireland, Finland, Belgium, Czech Republic and Azerbaijan. There will be job vacancies in the field of Information Technology (IT) healthcare, construction, hospitality, and others.
