November 2007 Civil Engineer Licensure Examination is not valid
After the Nursing Scam that broke out last year, here comes another scam this time in the field of Engineering. Personally, I condemn this erroneous act. I hate cheaters. Its sad to know that there are people who will do everything just to get what they want even if they didn’t deserve it. What’s more sorrowful is the feeling of those would be civil engineers who painstakingly sincerely study and work hard to be a certified professional but to find out in the end that their exam will not be valid..Its a waste of time and money..
Below is the report of the PRC’s invalidation on the Civil Engineering Licensure Examination last November 17 & 18. Eventually, re-examination for Civil Engineers will be held. Unfortunately there is no official schedule yet.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) invalidated the examination results in two subjects of the Civil Engineer Licensure Examinations conducted on November 17 and 18 due irregularities.In PRC’s official announcement dated November 26, the commission voided the exam results of the Hydraulics and Geotechnical Engineering and Structural Engineering and Construction portions given by the Board of Civil Engineering.
“After evaluation of the examination result in the subject Hyrdaulics and Geotechnical Engineering, PRC finds the same to be “statistically improbable” considering the unusually high grade/rating obtained by examinees,” the PRC announcement said.
Meanwhile, the National Bureau of Investigation said it confiscated two mobile phones from two examinees. The PRC discovered that one of the two cellular phones contained answers to 30 exam questions. Of the 30 questions, 21 answers were found to be correct.
The irregularities in the exam results have been reported to Labor and Employment Secretary Arturo Brion who in turn lauded the immediate and decisive move of the PRC.
Reports said 4,782 examinees took the licensure examination in eight testing centers nationwide.

12.10.2007 - The detail of the two-hour dialogue conducted on December 06, 2007 can be found in this link. Basically, PRC will decide on the petition submitted by CE examinees before the January 12, 2008. The PRC however suggested an “Optional Retake” to the examinees. 12.05.2007 - PRC officially announced the re-take for two subjects (Hydraulic & Geotechnical Engineering) of CE Licensure Examination on January 12, 2008.

Wla pong justice ang ginawa sa taga PRC kc kahit ako ang hydrolic is very easy exams, dpat yong tao na nakita nahuli cla ang dapat parosahan,, AYAW NAMIN NG RETAKE KC its true na naghirap ako sa design pero sa hydrolic madali lang, WHERE IS THE JUSTICE??????????????
Dapat Talaga yung 2 stud. lang ang parusahan dahil pati yung iba na susunod na eexam madadamay lang sa ginawa nila…..

it’s time to change the style of the CE Board. Enough of multiple choice type of exams. I took the board last Nov. 2005 and I cant help but to think how the type of the exam has become too much procedural. Repetition of problems from last exams is very evident and even the style. We cannot blame the high scores the examinees have been obtaining because the review centers have mastered the trend of how the exams are given. Imagine during our oath-taking ceremony there were 64 topnotchers, with 4 to 8 persons tying for certain rankings. Isn’t that this also looks like the scenario that they are describing as “improbable.” I am in favor with the present type of exam if the degree of difficulty they would give is like the ones the review centers conduct for their pre-board exams. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying the PRC should make the exam more difficult to erase the doubts brought about by the high results, But rather, make it more difficult for the profession to improve. Even if you become the no. 1 in our CE by getting a 98 plus grade, I would bet that if you would try to solve some US PE exams for CEng you would just get an average result or worse end up scratching your scalp in disappoinment. The main point is, conduct an exam that would give us the result based on the examinees’ critical thinking and clear understanding of principle rather than a high result drawn from the constant repetitive practice of commonly given board problems.
The PRC should release the result and just punish the ones who were caught. This is not the fault of the majority of the examinees. And make a better evaluation of present type of the exam.

sana palabasin nalang ninyo yung result ng exam sa mathematics para atleast alam namin kung mag retake pa kmi or hindi kac sayang yung time, useless rin naman kung bagsak rin lang yung math tapos mag reatke pa eh extra expenses pa yan kung mag kataon, no prob sakin mg retake ng exam.

hirap ng retake na exam ah… ayaw ata ng prc na marami makapasa, dapat hindi na me nagretake. sayang lang pinanggastos ko sa manila. dami hindi ngretake. kaw ba naman, mamasahe, magrent pa tulugan, eh how much pa kung galing ka bisayas o kaya mindanao.
ang daya talaga ng iba naming mga classmate, especially yung inaasahan namin na leader sana, e kasi sabi nya dapat daw no to retake, but kinabukasan EXAMINATION DAY MISMO! ay nagtake yung mga walang hiya kasama yung TUTA NYa !!!!!!!!!!!
pero kami ipinaglaban talaga yung PARA SA LAHAT NA MAKA2BUTI NG NAGTAKE SA NOV 2007 CE BOARD, HINDI YUNG PANSARILI LAMANG NA INTERES………
